lost something massive at garron. mate seen i got a knock 2 secs later he dropped his rod and had to grab my rod and the tripod as it headed sea-ward!!!! struck into it, rod doubled over then nothing :( brought it in and all the snoods were ok but bait was mangled on the middle hook. dunno what it was but i want to find out  lol

Hi Tompo, The same happened to me at Garron point. The rod and tripod were nearly getting an early wash. The only thing I can put it down to was a conger... A slight nod and then bang. When I had my knock I had the conger? on for about 15 mins but it grounded me. I could still feel the fishes head moving and shaking but no matter what I did it wouldn't budge. I eventually pulled for the break as I don't think it would have ever come out

Sometimes if you slack off completely for 2-3 minutes the fish will move out of the snags. Doesn't always work, but always worth a try, IMHO.

aye was thinking it was probably a conger or a diver having a laugh but there was no boats about lol.
think ill have to have another go at them again :D see whats out there.
would there be any chance of Huss off Garron? its very heavy ground with a decent depth of water??
gonna give them another go next week sometime will remember the tip about slacking off a bit if i do hook something decent :D
Cheers

If it was Monday night it was me and my da on the boat! Plenty of Makerel, few pollock and coalies. Not much to write home about.
There are large huss of GP. My dad caught one there about 5 years ago about 8lbs.
