blackhead and the flats - co. clare 25th june

Mon Jun 26, 2006 2:11 pm

People: me and old man

Duration: 3.30 pm-8pm

Tide: larges swells after high tide at 5 ish

Weather: was NW then changed N cloudy at the start then lots of bright spells

Bait: -

Rigs: rubber fish, rubber worms, toby, mepps, rapala, feathers - anything else in the bag!

Results: Zilch!

Report: after saturdays joys down in blackhead didnt really want to go there again but old man convinced me - place was mobbed again

plenty of our eastern friends heading away with bags of goldfish!

there were even people up on the rocks landward side watching the air show over in galway! an airsea rescue chopper even landed behind me and a couple of war planes deafened us with fly bys

for the duration we were there nobody seemed to be getting anything and again at an hour after high tide most people were gone again - it had gotten very bright so i suppose game over there

some dutch/german geezer below us told us he was going home as it was too blue - he looked the part of a serious angler - said he fished every weekend and again said it was too blue - indeed!

took his advice headed back towards galway and hopped out before the flats really - was impressed with the old western fisheries board sign that said there might be bass to be had at the bottom of glenmaigh hill

all we got was a tackle grave yard - anyone got any advice on this place

still nice day to be out with the old man
