Report:We decided with the cloud cover and wind that we might get a chance to catch a few fish again, so we headed for the dingle peninsula. We had a look at the Brandon Bay beaches but no surf due to s wind so we headed for inch. There was a reasonable surf when we got there with only a small amount of weed. However that did not last long. The wind and rain really picked up after about an hour and with it the weed. I had started out with a 2 oz ball weight but ended up using a 4 oz grip lead and was still getting washed up with the weed.
We had planned to fish 2 rods but the conditions did not allow. The fishing was good but could have been better only for the weed. A few small turbot and sea trout had been taken by a couple of anglers earlier in the morning. After inch became unfishable we decided to try my favourite rock mark, I knew it would be sheltered from the southerly wind. It is a mark on the northern side of kerry head called Ballingary Island which offers the rock angler some safe low rock platforms to fish off. I have had some great days spinning for pollock to over 8lbs there. We had a few lug left over so Garoid pulled out a number of wrasse with them leaving me to try spinning for pollock using the jellyworm and lead flowing trace method. I only managed 2 pollock to 4 lbs, but the fact that we were fishing the mark at LW rather than the preferred HW had something to do with that. All in all we cannot complain we have had a lot worse days fishing
