People: Me, codswollop, brother Greg & Al
Duration: 2 days
Tide: High at approx. 2.30 & 3.30 in the morning
Weather: Scorching hot, no wind, flat sea
Bait:rag & mackerel
Rigs: 2 hook paternoster
Results: Smooth hounds, Flounder, dab, Whiting & dog fish
Report: We fished on Friday night for 3 hours. 9.30 -> 12.30. This was on Courtown strand. It produced 1 tiny flounder, 1 medium sized dab, 1 tiny smooth hound & loads of dog fish.
We fished Donaghmore strand on Saturday from 6.30 in the evening until 11.30 that night. It produced 1 medium sized flounder (caught by codswollop's 5 yr. old son Marc!), 1 tiny whiting, a couple of tiny smooth hounds and loads of dog fish. There was a bass (about 3lbs) caught on rag during a day time neap tide along this coast by another bunch of anglers. They put it back.
PS. At Donaghmore there were a lot of what seemed to be tiny sprats causing disturbance on the water only about 10 yds. out from where the tiny waves were breaking. Another 10 to 15 yds. further out there was an occasional rise (about 5 ft. in the air) by a fish that looked in the 3 to 4lb weight bracket. Has anyone any ideas what this may be? I was guessing sea trout?

Hello John.
Sounds like sea trout to me
