[b]Report:bank holiday weekend so decided on a trip to a few marks I had seen posted.
Friday: Drove to Cunnigar and tried for the bream. Fished 3 hrs over top of spring tide. Gentle SW breeze. I am the Belfast guy mentioned by Cortaz although really from Newtownards. Didn't know who i was talking to. Anyway he was helpful, Caught a few bass to 2 lb all returned alive as season is closed. No bream for me. Bait fresh lug.
Saturday: Drove to Dingle and fished rocks at mouth of Ventry harbour. 3 hours of flood to near top, wind still light and southerly. 2 pollack to about 2 lb and a wrasse of the same size. Had expected better but first time here and could only find one point where i could get down. Does anyone know of others along this bit of coast? Bait fresh rag, hookais and jelly worms.
Sunday morning: Four hours over low water. Wind increasing so fished mouth of Dingle harbour below lighthouse. Only blank. Not a bite. Impossible to hold bottom with strong tide and the amount of weed in the water.
Sunday night: Tried Dingle harbour of pier for conger for a couple of hours, but only managed dogfish.
Monday: Drove up to Kilteery pier and fished last three hours of flood. Strong Northerly wind which must have been gusting near gale force at times. Not ideal for this mark. 2 thornbacks. One about 2-3 lbs and the other a double figure fish I am sure. Lying on my stomach trying to heave it up the pier using the shockleader must have been fun to watch. Two foot from the top when I was just about to grab it, it fell off. Teach me to always bring my dropnet. Hooked another good fish but lost it about half way in. All fish caught on sandeel wrapped in squid. Sandeel alone was off the hook in minutes. It must be alive with crabs. Either that or lots of small fish as i hooked one small plaice.
Not as good a return as I had hoped for, but saw a few new marks and only blanked once so can't complain to much.

At Kilteerey with many other of the Estuary marks crabs will take your bait in seconds. Squid wraps and large baits are the way to go. Good to hear you got a few ray. I've heard of plaice there but I always took them to be spotted flounder.

Donagh could have been a spotted flounder. Very small so I only glanced at it before putting it back.

hi
that area around ventry can be tough to access, just like slea , clogher and the creek etc , the whole area can be a nightmare to get down to the water.
local knowledge is the best bet, or else get out with a mate and rope and suss out the whole area.

Know the area pretty well, but as i said first time at Ventry. Agree that access at Slea and Clogher is very difficult, but over the top at Brandon Creek is not to bad. Had some excellent fishing there late last year. Haven't been this year yet.
