Anglers: Kevin and myself

Tide: rise and ebb.

Weather: Overcast with sunny spells and gusting winds.

Bait: Rag, Razor, Frozen Blacklug and squid. Hokias.


Result : Kevin got 3 coalies on the hokias :D:D :D and for the rest the less said the better. :( :( :(. Johnny arrived a while after we got there and was still there when we left around 17:00. :D

Nice to meet you guys

Stayed until about 7:00pm nothing at all on the baited rod but 16 coalies on the trace by the end of the day.

Likewise Johnny it's always nice to put a face to the name. You did well with the traces judging by your result that mark is far better suited to spinning.

At times yes but it can throw decent fish off the bottom.
I just take the small rod and traces to keep me sane on days like yesterday. :lol: :lol: :lol:

have you ever fished it late at night? :?: i would have always fished there at night esp.in summer month unless i wanted to catch a few wrasse-always had to go earlier and normally stayed there for hours on end.spent 3 1/2 hours one friday night ond pulled out 83 in total. 8)
i will have to try there soon,have not been there for approx 2 months now. :cry:
i always use feathers or tinsle traces,most others use spinners.i fine traces work better,but i need to take loads of traces with me as it is quite weedy esp. when the tide is low. :)
weather and wife :evil: permitting i may try it this friday or saturday night..........mmmm sound like a plan to me.. :idea:

I assume you where fishing the bottoom pier ? Do you know if Ballyhenry Bay can be fished from the shore. Apparently it's up to the right of the ferry pier.

the wreck in ballyhenry bay (Lee's wreck) has some goog pollock about it but it might be a bit far to cast!

Is Portaferry pier accessable for disabled people? Was hoping to maybe persuade my dad to bring me tomorrow but he'd need to fish aswell..
