Ah now I could hardly forget the ban with all thats been on here!

Just wondering if there were that many one may have picked up his bait, without him specifically targeting them of course!

Wasn't asking so I could target them, just bass aren't that regular here so was interested to know.

i fished just down from the chipper beside the pipe i would have had to spin to catch the bass.they moved down towards bray head after the sandeel.they did not touch the bait at all.col just to let you know there was a lot of big bass caught around mizen head /ennerily north in the last two weeks it was kept quiet because you never know who is checking the sites all on plugs and lures.these fish where returned bar one .

Mackerel maybe?

Are you sure they weren't mackerel?

I saw hundreds of mackerel doing the same thing around Greystones last summer. At first I was excited at the thought of it being bass but I quickly found out that they were mackerel as some man was actually running up the beach with a set of feathers after them. Hilarious to watch!

touchy touchy!!!

Never seen a bass jump before either to be honest, i'll take your word for it though. What would cause them to jump..? Where they being chased by a seal or another predator..? I have been lucky enough on a few occasions to fish water that was teeming with bass and on all occasions you wouldnt know they were there only for the spinner stopped violently in the water every second cast or so. Having said that, on all occasions there was a decent swell and strong tide run. Might have been different if it was calm.

Apologies

Sorry Greg. I didn't mean to cause offence.

Thanks very much for the info greg. Have never fished the north beach  and it's nice to know you don't need to walk far and still get into fish if your feeling lazy. Fair play for resisting the temptation to throw out a spinner/sandeel.

Definitely plan on giving it a go sometime during the summer.

i took no offence to what you or liam where saying just i had to check three times myself to make sure it was bass .have seen bass down at the grey shed on the gannons do the same thing in summer herding sandeel against rocks and weed on the shore and the eels have no where to go but out of the water the bass follow suit hopes this clarifys the subject.
