yea Liam that was a great days fishing i wander were we will go next week ???. i will send you the pic's of the fish soon and we can put them on the forum. i use to be one of them guys that would cast say 170-200+ yards but i have found out that there is no need for that 90% of the time that 2lb pollack that i got yesterday was no more that 8-10 feet away i think that its true that old saying that there is gold under your feet. as for the day when we went to the first mark up there at 6:30am the wind was in you face and it was kind of cold but we went to garron point it was still a bit chilly but at lest the wind was of you a bit and it turned out to be one of the best days i have had fishing in a long time :D remind me Liam next time we are going out fishing to put the suntan cream in my fishing bag 8)

chuckin 170- 200+ yds merv... you should go along to the next casting meet of the U.C.C.
sometimes distance is required at some marks but in general most fish are in easy casting range with a flick getting you to most of them

I think that he maybe means feet rather than yards

170 - 200 yards is a very long way Merv - you sure about this?

If so - fair play to you, I have fished with guys who regularly attend casting lessons and meets and they would give their right arm (not literally) to hit this distance.

As BigPhil says - you want to get along to the next UCC meet.

Hi Liam,

I have a club competition this weekend in Strangford, I haven't been fishing much recently - busy with my college course but come the start of June, I'll be out regular at Glenarm/Portmuck/Carnlough - we should meet up then....

I'll keep you posted.

Are you still in Glengormley or are you in Ardglass now?

Alright Merv Chum, We could do with another Big Hitter at the U.C.C. Do you not Fancy coming up and giving it a shot?

Tue May 16, 2006 7:03 pm

If you can manage it Merv - fair play to you.

I wouldn't mind seeing it and as Drew says, you would be welcome at a UCC meet to show off your skills and maybe even improve further...
