Fished Spanish Point at low tide yesterday morning. Managed only one mid sized flounder. For the most part, baits came back untouched. Tried spinning for a while as well but nada.

Hey Sean,

it's a relief that it wasn't just us being so bad then last week.

I'll take the gear back down off eBay.

Sorry to hijack the thread Sean but I was talking to Barry Murphy yesterday and he said that the spot we fished (poulnasherry) only ever gives up fish at low tide. Maybe we just fished it wrong

Well lads,

I think that is probably the best time alright. The majority of fish would seem to be caught around LW although I have seen fish caught at other times as well but maybe not so many.

The weed in the water due to the large tide may have reduced our chances further.
Going by yesterday, I don't think that Carrigaholt would have produced much more on that day except for maybe the odd flounder.

I will give it a go at LW as soon as my enthusiasm has recovered.

Well lads i dont know what you were doing wrong there,

was there only a few days back, and i had to put the rod down for a bit because they wouldnt stop coming in (the ray that is).

i could put it down to the dolphins that i spotted there by the pier, or just maybe every one was ating over all the fish??

who knows.. anyway i caught a good load of fish there, even nige got a few nice ray there as well....

I think us Galway lads will have to come down and show you all how to catch fish...

I wasn't to push about missing the comp on sunday as the best fishing I've seen has been on spring flood. Wind had turned easterly. My understanding was mainly poulnasharry was low tide for ray but can produce at other stages of the tide for dogs and spinning for bass but on springs the main 2 hours of the tide run are to be avoided.

Hi donagh

That's bang on, we're down there next Saturday and the plan is to fish it only in the morning from 10-12 the two hours either side of low water...
