People: Just me
Duration: 5 to 8 pm
Tide: High tide at six pm
Weather: Glorious, sunny and warm
Bait: Spinning - rapalas, poppers, tobys, kosters, tasmanian devils, flying Cs etc
Rigs: tried a fly behind a bubble float as well
11' Bass spinning rod, 20 lb braid, various lures...
Results: one sea trout about 4 lb
Report: Beautiful evening, warm & sunny, walked out the estuary past the boat club spinning all the while. Nothing for the first few hours but did see a few fish jumping. Between 7 & 7.30 I got 3 tentative bites on a toby but the fish immediately let go (or I was too slow to strike). Changed to a flying C at 7.45, saw a good fish swirl about 40 yards out, cast 10 yards past it and started a slow retrieve - BANG - good take, nice fight - all over in 4 minutes. I had crushed the barbs on all the trebles so the hook came out fairly easy, off he (she) went - seemed to be OK.

Thanks Col, I've been out with the beachcasters a few times since Christmas - and blanked at Killoughter, Newcastle, and Greystones (a couple of times) - so it was a relief to catch something !
I actually thought I was covering a bass but as soon as it took I knew it wasn't - pleasant surprise though.

Good to hear there's fish out there. I was spinning few times there last year and blanked always lost few lures as well :(. Started to think there's nothing out there.
There was couple of sea trout caught in malahide last week ( Ive heard from people spinning there) 3-4lb mark as well.
