Morriscastle Strand Friday 14th

Mon Apr 17, 2006 5:44 pm

People:On me Tobler!

Duration:8pm - 11pm

Tide:high tide 8:30

Weather:Slight South Westerly

Bait:Frash crab & Lug

Rigs:Pulley Pennels & 3 hook flappers

Results:Dabs, Flounders and 1 pin whiting

Report:
Best fishing at very close range, had a fair few double shots of dabs, the flounders were better sized, around the 1lb mark but the dabs were just over palm sized. Took about a dozen fish in all.

FWIW I also fished Katts Strand yesterday with frozen crab at low water and blanked, bought my mandatory 20 lug from Daves Tackle in Ardcavan on the way, they were all dead - poor show, although it was Sunday on a holiday weekend and I only really go in to ask where the fish are being caught.

Maybe you should ask less questions and buy more tackle next time alby :D :D :D :D :D then he might give you the live worms

Still at least you caught a few fish to keep you interested.

Good luck on your next trip...

Good stuff alby, nice to be getting a few flats anyway. Will be heading down that way soon on a futile Ray hunt so at least therell be flounder to pass the time!

Plenty of bites to keep the cold away allright Sean. Ray from what I have seen are a rare catch from Morriscastle, In the past 2 years I've had everything (dabs, flounders, whiting, smuts, doggies, rockling, eels) everything bar a bass or a ray.

Although the sandbank is well within range of a good caster and the only fishbaits I really used were sandeels in close. Best of luck with the Ray hunt anyway.

If ye fancy it maybe yourself & Mark fish a night session on the first springs in may (I was thinking Enereilly or Clones for Smuts maybe), let us know anyway, tight lines.
