Anyone any idea how marks in Sligo are fishing at the moment - going down next week with the family to Enniscrone, so will be able to escape for a couple of evenings fishing

Hi
I have reports of lots of seatrout at the far end near the Moy, big run of salmon on currently so have your licence with you if you fancy trying for them and I am told there are small whiting still around the pier at night.
FWIW...

We were getting pollack and coalies near Easky last time out, from boat though but we were going tight to rocks as we dared, no reason why you shouldnt get them from shore, am expecting makerel to show anytime, last year they were here end of march, should think any whiting at pier would be very small,
Cheers Steve

Hi guys , what bait do you reckon ?? Sandeel ??.
I've been told to watch out for "shifting" sand down there . Do you know whether this means quicksand - as in sloppy sinky stuff - , or sand being cut away from under you by the current ?
And someone mentioned a possible ban on cars on the beach . Have you heard anything ?
Sorry about all the Q's .
Tried the rock mark on W of Aughris Head for a couple of hrs yesterday , just after the big blow . Caught very sluggish pollack of about 1 1/2 lb . Intend to give that place a few goes this year , starting soon .
The publican there says a bloke fished a night session off the pier late Jan and took 16 ( SIXTEEN ) species including codling . Surely can't be true . Can it ??? I think you'd usually have a chance of something but 16 of anything would be pretty good from there .
PS - a man sells every sort of frozen bait ( inc black lug -- which is useless from boat but said to be good from shore ) out of his garage in Inniscrone . Jim Byrne . Pm me if you want directions .

Nah , pm me instead . I'm the holder of the local record for the biggest conger taken off the pier at inniscrone in donky's years  . Very strange fish , that one . It grows by about 2 ft and 10 lb every time anyone tells the ( very long ) story  .
But seriously - Steve t knows those waters . Give him a shout .
See you tomorrow , Steve , if I can bring myself to drive straight past the LW at Culleenamore !
