For those wondering, yes, they are about.
Went to Wexford via St Mullins and fished for barely an hour. I had 2 fish in, and dropped 2. The bigger fish was about 45 cm.
I may give it another shot tomorrow. The bigger tides will be next weekend.

Took the long way back to Dublin again.
Another 2 fish, and dropped a few as well. 45cm and 46cm. There was a 52cm caught by someone too.

Fished friday evening (high water roughly 7.30pm), had 1 and lost 3. Friend of mine had 3 and lost 1.
Everybody else pretty similar results, one chap had a salmon also.

Nice looking fish, and good sizes. Never encountered them - what are they like on the hook, and more important, on the plate?

Only run a few weeks a year up certain rivers, most people fish St Mullins on the barrow river. Theyre not too bad fighting if you get the right one, they are spawning so some energy gone. As far as I am aware, they are protected and you cant keep them.
I will be heading back down myself this weekend.
