My Bait: Fresh Peeler Crab
Conditions: Full moon, warm, bit of chop
Result: 2 Smooth Hound
Collected some fresh peeler crab at low tide for the first time in months, since I've been mostly lure fishing all summer, I got about a dozen peelers and 2 softies. Anyway I get to the mark 2 hours before high tide, this is a rock mark fishing into water about 8-16ft deep so shallow enough. I cast out a soft crab first and almost straight away I was into a decent smooth hound, measured 90cm. After that I put out a soft crab again, and straight away again I was into a fish, another smaller smooth hound, this one was deep hooked and I spent ages trying to sort it after which I decided to call it day as I'd probably be catching smooth hounds all night and that gets boring pretty quickly
I'll probably try somewhere else in the next few days with the leftover bait!
