Inishmore fishing report

Hi Guys. Was over fishing on Inishmore the week before last and got in a bit of lure fishing and a bit of float fishing. Was fishing at the wormhole on the island and started with the float with ragworm as the bait.Caught 5 Wrasse up to 2 and a half pound.Fished the float for about a hour then got bored with that and did a bit of lure fishing for Pollock.Fished for about two hours and only a few small pollock to about two pounds to show for it.Packed it in and went to the pub for a few pints and dinner.

The next day went to a spot on the island that looks good on Google maps but when I got there you need rock climbing gear to get down to the mark.As I was leaving a couple of lads came by with rock climbing equipment and said they were climbing down to where I wanted to fish and they would let me use there gear to get down.So I took them up on there offer and absailed down the cliff to the fishing ledge. After making sure that they were staying there for the day off I went fishing.I have to say the fishing wasn’t that great with a few Pollock caught up to 3 pounds. There was a lot of bites but the fish that day were just plucking at the lures.Tried different rate of speed and loads of different colours and lures to no avail. But the view from the bottom of the cliffs was breathtaking especially a cave cut into the cliff.Packed up and climbed back up the cliff with the help of the rock climbers. Before I went they told me of a spot ten minutes away that you can climb down to a ledge that’s called fisherman’s ledge. Now I liked the sound of that so went to check it out.Turns out it’s a lot higher then were I was.Climbed down a little bit but was getting tired and decided to do the right thing and call it a day.The lads ensured me on the way back that it’s not to bad to climb down so might try that the next time.

The next day fished a spot I know well and caught some nice Pollock to just under 5 pounds. It was time to catch the plane back to the mainland so packed up and was on my way.All in all a nice weekend fishing.
