When: 28/09/2020
Where: Malahide Estuary & Beach
Who: Myself
Estuary Duration: 14:30-17:30
Beach Duration 18:00-22:30
Low Water: 16:01
High Water: 22:12
Equipment: 9ft spinning rod with 4000 reel. 15ft beach rod with 9000 reel. 11ft bass rod with 4000 reel.
Rigs: Pennel Pulley & flapper.
Bait/Lures: 28g Kilty Catcher Chartreuse in the estuary then cocktails of ragworm, lugworm, mussel & peeler crab on the beach.
Conditions: Sunny spells, chilly and breezy.
Result: Fat Blank

Spent 4 hours gathering bait yesterday for today's fishing, ragworm and peelers seem to have gone a bit scarce? anyway got down to the estuary about an hour and a half before low tide to spin 1 down and 1 up, few other lads fly fishing either side of me but nobody seemed to be catching anything. Went back to the car for a break and to get the beach fishing gear then at half 5 and was back down on the beach at 6. I setup near a large deep gulley that runs from the main channel of the estuary straight towards the shore so I thought if I fish into it as the tide pushes me up the beach I should be in luck. About 2 hours into it I started getting a few bites but nothing seemed to be hooking up, that went on for about an hour and then it went quiet for the rest of the night :?

Hard luck, Gonzo. I'm sure you'll catch something there eventually. Thinking of heading there the next early morning low tide. Might see you there!

Hi Gonzo, thanks for the reports. I was one of the fly fishers, no seatrout but I had a mackerel when I headed downstream of you. Regards , Gillaroo
