Went to Dun Laoghaire west pier yesterday at my first attempt to get into fishing since a kid, surprised by how many people were out at 8am. Wasn't much space at the end of the pier so moved a good bit down. Could see people bring in some mackerel after high tide. Only caught a tiddly wink of a pollock and a cod, that went back in. Was plenty of sea weed in front of me, made it difficult.

About six people out between both piers at Howth today. There two hours and just one caught as high tide hit.

None from balbriggan this afternoon but the boats were getting them not far out. From what I could see they seemed to be mostly joeys

Lads I've found in rough weather or if the seas choppy them red pollock bashers work wonders for mackerel. I was out at the telegraph pole in Howth today targeting pollock with my bashers and caught some of the biggest mackerel I've ever seen, one of them had to of been a specimen! Only fished for about 40 minutes before my bag was full and I decided to head off pollockless

Old head in clew bay, plenty of mackerel around the last couple of days, coming right in under the pier, great craic on light tackle, Sunday night the water was boiling with them as they chased the sprat in around the pier

Spent a minute watching a lad fish on the rocks at the start of the Dunmore East cliff path. In that time he pulled in a mackerel

Plenty of Mackerel being caught between Sandycove and Dalkey over the last few days if you can find a spot between the crowds. All the ones I saw being caught were tiny though, more like sardines.

Caught just the one at the Telegraph Pole in Howth today. Third cast on a dexter wedge. Arrived just at high tide so may have got there slightly late.
To be fair it was possibly the largest mackerel I have seen or caught!

There appears to be plenty of them around the bay in Dublin, plenty of reports, no great sizes or large quantities, but very promising this year compared to previous ones
