Short Holiday Session - Castletownbere

Had a family holiday down to west Cork for the last few days. As is the case with too much family time, eventually need to decompress so acquired a couple of packs of sandeels from Paul Harris in Drumagowlane and got out for a couple of hours on the shore right behind the holiday resort.

Headed down after the rugby and clearing the head was badly needed! Got set up and baits in the water about 1045. Wasn't expecting much except an exercise in feeding the crabs but I had a new rod to christen having spent the last few months overseas. I found a Primo Hiflex going for very reasonable money.

Only spent two hours but managed a few doggies and my first ray from the shore, a little thornback about two or three pounds. So delighted with that!

The new rod is fast becoming a favourite. Makes even me feel like I can cast! I'm hitting distances with a sandeel bait that I would have been hitting with a plain lead on my other rods using a very easy OTG cast.
