Cortaz in a previous thread you attacked me for having the view that comorants had more right to the fish than we had.

The way I see it is ... the Comorants and any other Marine wildlife, fish to survive ....we on the other hand fish for sport/ pleasure.

They have the right to the fish ..not us

Just my point of view

Andy

does that mean your giveing up fishing?
leave more fish in the c for cormorants
why dont we all give it up theyed have plenty to eat then

by the looks of your photo , you take more fish than any comorant

The title of this thread is RARE SPECIES
going by your pictures , they'll be getting rarer and rarer

on the same day i released 6 other bream and about 40 bass
released 400 odd bass last year /35 odd bream out of 50
its the same fish in both photos
everyone in the house eats fish theres 5/6 of us somethimes we eat pollock or macks sometimes bass or bream.
i put a lot of time/efford into my fishing and dont see any thing wrong with takeing home any less than i am going to eat.
in irish angler few guys catch 5 boxes of mixed fish1/4 ton and keep it all
if every angler releast the same ratio as me theyed b a lot more fish in the sea
be disgusted all u want boobloo
i am proud of my catches and my release ratio.
u want me to come home fishless everytime?

Cortaz,
Dont think he was having a go at you, just that its mad for anyone from outside your area to see the catch rate you have!! Personally I cant ever imagine catching more than one bass a day up here unless the godds are shining on me!! So to hear and see of a few Giltheads being caught is just brilliant suff!! I understand the giltheads are a bit of a regular thing down there in summer and Im sure your taking no more than you have to (badly hooked or the odd eating size 1 ) and I know youve released a lot more than youve kept, its just piccies like that make it look bad. Dont mean any offence and fair play for posting the photos for us all to see!

I'm with Andy on this one, I think that photo is disgusting too.

Some of the smaller fish in the photo makes me ask the question...what is it you return...

That photo may have been acceptable 10 or 15 years ago, but not today, with stocks being as bad and as low as they are.

I am certainly no stranger to taking fish home for the pan but posting pictures such as this on a public forum is certainly not in keeping with the current climate of declining fish stocks and conservation minded anglers.

We have had, over last summer, to wade through umpteen posts from yourself about fantastic catches, fair play until you then decide to bring ratios to play when justifying the amount of fish you keep. Ratios are neither here nor there, whilst you may be a superb fisherman (im hesitating to use the word Angler), a fish is a fish, not a fraction. If I catch 5 fish and keep one, how does that make me less conservation minded than the guy beside me who catches a 100 and keeps 10?

We have had to listen to a lot from you about how YOU could tackle a lot of the problems that are prevalent in relation to poaching etc around your part of the country......taking amounts of fish like that at a sitting are every bit as bad, look a little closer to home Cortaz formerly known as Poacher???!!!

One last thing, this site is for Anglers, people who enjoy their sport, not for fishermen...

I thought you had gone away................

Sad Case

I wouldnt mind guessing some of those you are so proud to show off are ever so slightly undersize.
Numpties like you are so living in the dark ages, I suggest you wake up, then try and grow up.
You might call yourself an angler but I'd call you an idiot.

Could I also suggest that the moderator removes that picture from the board? I dont think a picture of undersize fish on someones kitchen floor belongs on an angling forum as most of us on here are in it for the sport not to feed the bleedin cat.

It was me that posted it .... the original can be viewed in Cotaz's personal gallery

photo removed as per request

Some of the last few posts have included pretty nasty remarks about Cortaz, and to be honest they remind me of the kind of stuff thats common on the Brit angling sites. There is no need to insult the man, disagree with him if you want but don't resort to name calling.

Wed Mar 15, 2006 10:57 am

For my 2 bobs worth I'd of left the picture on the forum, some will find it hard to believe without proof. I know it made me sick to see it!

Pete....he was called a poacher and an idiot, I don't see that as name calling, I see that as a true tag for his actions.

As far as the "Brit" sites go, your comment makes me laugh, take the chip off your shoulder
