hello Daven.
Only been out twice in the last month or so due to my car still being off the road. Had a lot of trouble getting an engine but that's another story.
One of these trips, I left a report for. it was titled tramore Waterford.
The other I didn't bother as it was cat. Fished all night for conger but only maneged to get a heep of small rockling. They kept stripping my bait and most of the ones that I caught were foul hooked. Some times 2 or 3 at a time. Must have been a s**t load of them. As i went to target conger and traveled light Had no gear with me for smaller fish.
There has been next to no reports for Waterford lately. I know that the fishing isn't up to much but there must be somebody out :?: :?:

how goes it folks?
fished woodstown a couple of weeks ago with a lad from work. fished off the rocks at the end of the beach. we got a couple of nice size flounder, and the rest small coalies, codling and a couple of whiting. nothing spectacular but it killed a couple of hours.
fished the saleens a few days later and blanked. there was fish jumping out of the water out in the channel (sea trout im told) but they weren't taking lug squid or peeler. i did pull in a ton of weed all held together by someones lost trace so i walked away with a couple of swivels, a 5oz breakaway lead and a couple of gemini links. felt like i was pullin in a corpse though.
was in ballinakill for a little while on friday - nothing doing so headed to passage for a while with a few leftover lug, very quiet.
from what i hear and from personal experience over the last few weeks its pretty slow down this way.

I fished both ballinakil and Grannagh 10 days ago (see report). Id be . As late as last May I cought codling in passage and heard of codling being cought in cheekpoint. Speaking of, when should we start targeting the eels??? And before I finish... Went walking on Sunday with the family up the path beside Stradbally cove. About 150 yards up theres a path back down to the rocks that looks like an interesting mark. Would I catch cod off there If I fished it now?

Was jogging around the sand dunes the other day (as the fishing seems a bit crap from what has been siad the past few weeks) and close to opposite the saleens (but not quite) I saw about 50 fish swimming very close to the shore. They seemed to be feeding. Alot of them had their fins sticking out of the water as they swam. Were they mullet or bass? Would it be too early for the mullet to be there?

Mullet for sure. Although I have come across Bass feeding before (about 15 schoolies) They tend to move around a bit quicker than mullet and tend not to be on the surface.
