A return to the swilly

I haven't been fishing much since my mum became terminally ill last year and with her passing away a few weeks ago I had to get some thinking time. So I decided that I would go fishing after the wife was done work at 11pm. I spent the afternoon sorting gear and rigs just to pass the time, bath the wee man and loaded the car. Made school lunches and sent the wains off to bed and picked up the wife. After a quick coffee I went to a local pier which is only 15 minutes from my house, aren't I lucky to have a fine swilly mark close to home. Anyway I was set up and had baits in the water for midnight, it was a good job I had the pier to myself as my casting was rusty but it soon came back to me. There was action from the word go, mainly crabs but it didn't take long for the doggies to find my bait. The wind made spotting bites difficult and I missed a few I am sure but I still managed 7 doggies. I fished up and over high water and an hour into the ebb, packed up at 3am as I had run out of bait. It was good to get out and clear my head.

Hope the head has cleared a bit after a nice nights fishing, looks like it was well deserved.

I will be up in Donegal for the first two weeks of August so if you fancy to wet a line give us a shout.
