Rigs:three hook scratchers & two up one down flatties

Results:21 fish caught all small around 200mms whiting, codling , flounders, rockling & coalfish


Report: 1st leg of six in the clubs easter cups league, all fish count , measured recorded & releasedi took the senior leg with a mixed bag of coalfish, whiting rockling and flounder, second was tied between john scott & john rodgers both with 4 fish and the junior section was taken by gareth duke with a solitary flounder of 23cm also taking the longest fish pool, next leg is at whitehead promenade next tuesday evening 7pm to 10pm you dont have to be a member of the club to join in £2.00 entry 60% 1st 40% 2nd & £1.00 longest fish pool , peg draw at 6.45pm onwards, all welcome for a bit of crack

Hi Stuart,

A few questions from a novice ! Where is the best place to fish at Browns Bay ? Some have said from the beach and others have recommended around to the right at the point. Also if from the beach is distance casting required ?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

HI MATEY WE USUALLY CHOSE THE BEACH FOR SAFETY DURING THE DARK NIGHTS ON SHORT COMPS LIKE THE WINTER LEAGUE AND EASTER CUPS USUALLY PEGGING LEFT AND RIGHT OF THE RIVER, WE HAVE HAD SOME REASONBLE CATCHES IN THAT AREA WITH FLOUNDER UP TO 40CMS COALFISH TO 2LB WEIGHT AND DOGS AT DISTANCE, TACTIC ARE TO KEEP THINGS AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE SIZE 2S HOOK AND THREE HOOK FLAPPERS WILL TAKE MOST OF THE SPECIES DURING DARKNESS AND CAST KNOW FURTHER THAN ABOUT 30-50FEET , JUST A LOB , BEST BAITS RAG OR LUG TIPPED WITH A SMALL BIT OF MACKERAL SILVER BELLY, FOR WHITING, CODLING, FLATS, COALIES ROCKLING ETC, WE NORMALLY HAVE A COUPLE OF OUTINGS TO THE PAINTED ROCK ON THE POINT AND IT REALLY IS A GREAT SPOT IN THE SUMMER HANDY AND PLENTY OF SPECIES AVAILABLE, IN FACT I MIGHT JUST HAVE A THROW IN THAT AREA VERY SOON
