The swilly again but opposite side

Postby MC » Sun May 13, 2018 2:56 pm

Well the wife was working until 11pm last night and around 10pm I took a look at the tides, low @ 1130pm high at 5.30am, sure I could get out for a few hours, couldn't I? Well in no time I was packed and ready to go once I collected the wife from work, once she was home and a cuppa made the car was packed and I headed to the mark. This side of the swilly is more swallow but less tidal, so lighter weights and father casting was needed, anyway I had a bait in the water before mignight and less than 5 minutes later the distance rod was dancing to the tune of a doggie. Thinking I was in for a night at the dogs and I want wrong as I ended up with 9 of them. Getting fed up with dogs I baited up a fillet of mackerel on a 4/0 pennel pullys and blasted it out, while I rebaited the other rod the distance rod pulled over, if it hadn't been in the tripod it would have been pulled over, classic Ray bite, after a short but spirited fight a 4lb female lay at my feet. Quickly unhooked and returned and another big bait cast out in high hopes but alas only got doggies, can't complain as for an unplanned short notice trip of a few hours I didn't blank and landed my target species.

That's a good return for an impromptu session, I'd be quite happy with 9 doggies and a thorny.
