Beara Peninsula - West Cork

Tue Mar 07, 2006 4:50 pm

People:Me and Codswollop

Duration:2nd March -> 5th March

Tide:All stages

Weather:Sunny, cold, rainy, hailstones, windy and calm

Bait:lug, crab, mackerel, sand eel, squid, razor

Rigs:two hook flapper and 3 hook flapper. Spinning.

Results:Small coal fish, decent flounder, big wrasse and small conger.

Report: Myself and Codswollop fished around the Beara Peninsula for a couple of days. We fished a number of different marks at different times of the day and at various stages of tide. It would take me too long to write an accurate report that takes in the 4 days fishing.

I'm not sure if it's normal as I am from Dublin. You can see one of them in Codswollop's personal gallery. The wrasse were up to 3lb and the conger up to 5 1/2 lb.

4lb 12oz? I'm guessing this is either your personal best or a specimen sized wrasse?

The best of luck with your mission. I wouldn't mind one of them myself.
