Cork Bank Holiday weekend

Postby eddyfletch » Mon Oct 30, 2017 8:37 pm

So Had a two four hour sessions over the weekend to do some research on my own rigs and see if i could pick up a couple of fish while I was at it . Being a telecommunications rigger the storms had me busy over the past few weeks so I deserved a few sessions.

Bait Fresh crab

27th October

Low Tide 17:16 (1.44m)
High Tide 23:02 (3.35m

Time of fishing 16.00 and fished until 20:00 .

Weather

Wind 7.4 km/h sw

Temperaute 10.c

So down to it i had tied 10 different pulley rig systems i wanted to try and see what works best with beads length etc. I use two rods so i could switch them up every now and again. off to a good start with a coalie of on the first cast over the next 4 hours i had a small codling and another coalie.

A result all caught on the same rig 4 foot pulley rig system (swivel to a 4/0 hook) with no coloured beads only two black one either side of the bead swivel. I tried use the same pulley system with a different colour bead swivel and had no luck on that. And rigs with coloured beads did not even get a bite strange hey and i thought beads where magical.

The weed situation was fine until around 19.45 where it started toget thick hence packing up and heading home

28th October

Low Tide 18:25 (1.53m)
High Tide 00:07 (3.23m

Went to the same mark again landed around 17.00. and fished until 21.00

Weather

around 10.c on arrival
Wind speed 11 km/h west

So back to switching up rigs again only one fish tonight on the same rig used above a nice 42cm codling

Again just as i started to pack up again the weed monster began to hit.
Now this could all be a coincidence but hey ho if it works why change it ? All fish returned alive. I witnessed two people catching very small fish and running into the car each time to bag them i was far from impressed. That nonsense would grind your gears.

who can guess the successful bead swivel
