Venue; The wall
Date; Sat 11 Nov
Bail; razor and sandeel
Low tide; 1730~
Fished; 1730-2000

Got 2 doggies and a small Cod (first Cod too so happy out). A few whiting caught off the wall by other lads, nothing worth mentioning from the trip in quality or quantity.
Sickened my first cod wasn't a bit bigger for the pan,,, he was put back.

It was my fist time fishing the wall... what a handy venue!! Drive there, sheltered from the winds, car 20 ft away, no wind, enough lighting that you don't need headlamp on constantly... handy venue to spend a few hours!

I was only fishing on Sat to keep me off the beer.... and ffs sure I went home had a shower, and the next thing I know I'm supping pints in town....

Fished the wall again last night, LT @ 2020 ~, fished 1900-2300 odd..... 5/6 doggies and a few whiting, none worth writing home about though! Used Mackerel for bait.... dead enough fishing! Looking to go to Youghal in the next few weeks to get my first cod... first real cod anyway (not counting the tiny on I got a few days ago!)

Never had much time for Monkstown at night
The deep water berth in Cobh would be a better choice.

Youghal producing dog fish and odd whiting, will try at night time to see what else is around. Quite a bit of weed around too.

Is the weed up along the harbour or out at the beach ?

Hi Donal- is this area open for anglers it is? Might give it a go the next day, getting nothing but pin whiting off the wall recently! What app do you have that shows the depth of the water?
Cheers
Eoin

Park by the pedestrian bridge and walk to the mark. There is a marked public walkway along there so fish beyond the railings. Be polite and just watch your traces with dogs.
Pm gone on app

longest cod was 45cm and they were very scarce, you could say an endangered species

Fished Youghal beach mid-week, a couple of whiting but plagued with dogs.

Fished Monkstown for an hour either side of high water yesterday had about a dozen whiting over the 30cm mark. The smaller fish moved in as the tide started to drop.

Hi I was in Monkstown yesterday, fished either side of HW and get nothing, I returned during the night for LW (got a new rod so didn't want to go blank  ) I got 3 withings and something like a sea loch (not sure) on crab bait no cod. I had 2 small cods of the Wall 2 weeks ago. Yesterday the tide was around 4m and it was impossible to hold the bottom with my 7oz grip lead 1H past around HW or LW :? wanted to go back today but that wind and rain stopped me. I might go again tomorrow around LW :)
