A few fish from youghal beach showing allright but real hit and miss.Fished it weds night with 2 rods fresh crab worm sandeel etc low to high 1 whitting and infested with bait robbing crabs.Worst outing all year but a few nights before the place was hopping with fish.Chalk and cheese!Lovely sea conditions both nights.Similar results over past few weeks in the general area of eastcork.
A bit of effort will produce the goods but be prepared for a few quiet sessions in between.

Just back from Fishing Youghal beach, headed to Ferrypoint first, but a few lads there so headed to the Beach, first cast and double up whiting on my Pennel - then 2 more over the course of the 4 hours I did. Lad next to me had 3 on his First cast and not sure if that was it as he left soon after.

Ocean was Beautiful and I had a good scrap off a better fish but as I got it close in, he got off :(

Bait used was Fresh Crab and Squid sausage.

Will try Monkstown in the morning for a few casts, That new Rod ( T900 ) is an Animal.

Hi lads,
Just wondering if you could help me. Trying to get my dad back out again after almost 2years of not finishing due to various reasons for him. He was chatting about catching cod lately and would love to try Youghal/Monkstown as he always wanted tofish down this neck of the woods but never got around to it.
So the only date at the moment that suits is Saturday Week 18th November. I see the high tide for Youghal is appox 5.30pm. Given this and hoping the weather gods play into our hands, which areas & times would be recommended for this day.
We will arrange our fresh supply of bait (Crab, Lug etc whatever is needed) but be nice to get him out and onto a nice plump fish (that would be an early Christmas present for him).
Thanks for your help.

A 4.1mt tide will make it hard going fishing the estuaries in Youghal and Monkstown you'll get an hour or two from low water (11:40)
Monkstown isn't fishing well at the moment and I can't see it improving.
Ferrypoint is your best option if you are fishing from low water up.
Sea angling Ireland are fishing the Cod Championships on Youghal beach that day from 16:00 to 21:00 and if the numbers are there we will be fishing Redbarn also.
We'll be pegging the beach from the end of the car park on the town side of the beach where the grassy bank starts for Claycastle .

There will be plenty of room to fish to the left of us
