Hit the area last Saturday night, South Beach past the driving range. Fishing from the low to the rising tide.

I was the only one on the beach until about 2am (when a group of lads showed up and fished across me....at which point I moved location).

2 rods out, both with rag tipped mackerel. One fishing between 30/50 yards, the other at distance. I also had a 10ft spinning rod just in case.....this came in useful later!

Weed wasnt excessive, but present, however it was annoying on the shorter rod.

Started fishing at about 8.30 and within the first hour I could see Bass hitting fish on the surface...out came the spinning rod. Using a small rattling plug I managed about a pound of weed on each cast!!!

Put the spinning rod away as I was being greeted by a few small doggies....and then I started to walking and spinning towards the point at the end of the beach. And before long hooked into a rather small, but pretty, bass!

Feeling pretty chuffed with myself I was then joined by a mob of idiots! :(

I ended up heading to the pier to get away from the shouting and music, and armed just with my spinning rod, spent the last few hours having fun with some small pollack and of course a doggie.

Nice session in the end, good to see the bass about. It's my first time to fish the area in easily 18 years, and after all the reports I heard about the east coast being dead, it was good to find greystones still acting as a nursery for young fish.

All fish returned alive and no idiot loud mouthed yob injured on this trip (though I was tempted!)

Grand spot to fish but hit and miss. Nice one with the bass.

Is the access along the back of the driving range and across the tracks open or did you walk along the beach? Havent fished there in years.
