Sligo Beach mark, Janurary 19th, 24th & 31st

Managed to get out for the first session of 2017 on the 19th, decided to fish a mark that Ive been haven some great sessions on last year so drove to the destination and headed over the beach away from the surfers and set up the usual one rod at range and one in close baited with mackerel strips, after five minutes the small rod tip started to move and was soon in to my first fish of the year which give a great account of it self on light rod, out of the surf came a nice Flounder just under 30cm he was starting to turn white on top fist time Ive caught one like this he was followed by another Flounder slightly bigger at 30cm and a Turbot of 23cm along with a lone Coalie, happy enough with the session for two hours.

January 24th

I returned the same mark as before to try the opposite side of the beach to see what was swimming in the surf over there, same set up as last time and was soon in to a nice Flounder of slightly over 32cm he was followed by another at 30cm and another Lone Coalie, called it a day after two hours as the surf was pushing in hard and the surfers were getting a bit close for comfort!!!

January 31st

Myself and Zeke meat up at the same mark for a long over due session 8) the surf was building up and and surging in very fast my tackle box nearly went for swim at one stage I think Zeke's box nearly went for a swim to, there was a lot of surfers around with the great surf, it wasn't long till the first fish on the fist cast came a wee Coalie followed by four Flounder and two more Coalies, all fairly small Flounder compered to the last few sessions and Zeke got his Flounder so happy days, a good chat and a good laugh with a few fish sure what more could you ask for. Another short session around three hours.

Good to see a report from you fisherking, and good to see a few flounder still about as I've been finding them hard to come by recently! That one seen head on looks to be a nice plump fish, never seen one with white on the upper side though I remember getting one a few years ago which was brown on both sides. Had a similar close call with my tackle box on 31st as well when an extra big swell almost caught me out. Nice pics.

Nice wee sessions fisherking, great pics.
Have never seen white on the top either but have seen one or two with bands of brown underneath. Some nice fish 8)
That guy side on certainly looks plump but he doesn't seem too impressed lol
