North Coast Bass - Got One!

Postby chuckaroo » Sat Jan 21, 2017 11:17 pm

It's been a long time coming! - maybe 3 years and maybe 20+ attempts - but I was graced today by a nice little schoolie bass of about 1lb from the north coast. 8)
I worked most of the beach with a 11' spinning rod and a Tackle House Feed Shallow, wading knee-deep into the surf. The fish struck right in the suds in front of me, maybe 10 feet from me and 30 feet from the shore.
A small fish but nice to see. A feeling of joy to eventually see one on the end of my line, but moreso relief than anything I guess! lol.
Would have been that wee bit more satisfied if it had been 2 or 3lb - which is a common stamp of fish for this beach when they are eventually caught..
Some damage to the dorsal and adipose fins on the fish. But it swam of strongly, back into the suds!
Happy Man.
That'll do...... for now...

up around that neck of the woods family guy, yip
funny, i was speaking to a guy that fished that north coast 40 years ago, he said that they were rare then too! - at a time when fishing on our shores was generally more plentiful....
hard to get. need to put serious time in, or be damn lucky.
