People: Me and spgavin

Duration: 18.00 - 00.00

Tide: HT 20.00

Weather: Howling Easterly - cut ye in two!!!

Bait: Rag, squid & mack

Rigs: Pulley, 2 hook clip down, wishbone, 2 hook scratcher

Results: Cod, plaice, coalfish, poor cod, 5 beard rockling & whiting

Report:

There was a really ferocious easterly blowing last night so we headed for the Pier at Red Bay as it is the only place to offer some shelter.

We got set up quite quickly and got stuck in. Trying to punch a lead out into the Easterly Wind was a fecking nightmare and over-running the reel was a certainty, getting the rod over your shoulder and through a cast was even more difficult - my shoulder aches this morning

However, there was some pleasure in return for the pain, between us we had 8 coalies all over 25 cms - several double shots - the scratching rigs done the most damage. Lots of small whiting, a small 5 bearded rockling, and a small poor cod.

Congrats to the bro - spgavin - who took a great cod of 35cms and the first plaice that we have seen this year - well done mate.

We really had to work for our catch last night as the weather was horrific -but at least the rain stayed away :D :D

I would even speculate that the Antrim coast will fish well this weekend after that Easterly blow
