7th 8th june north mayo

Postby corbyeire » Thu Jun 09, 2016 7:06 pm

on 7th tried ballycastle beach over hw and 2 of drop into darkness - big fat blank
seemed very shallow, set up about 200 metres from carpark then moved to 50m of river

few small sea trout jumping at the river but not interested

plenty of that stringy green weed about - plenty of venues closer to home look just like this, wont be going back in a hurry

headed down cummin direction - wanted to fish the hotspot for once same as before 1 hour up and 2/3 down

4 small flounder in the 20s and 2 sea trout in the late 30s - in great condition mind

nothing too exciting, wished i had gone deep water fishing instead

Hi C

I should or hope I mentioned that Ballycastle fishes best on low water if your are bait casting... and better at night as does all these shallow storm beaches. Surprised that you blanked completely, maybe there is someone trawling the beach... its not unknown in these parts unfortunately. Pollack are definitely in if you are off this weekend.
