Wexico beach 13/03/16

Sat Mar 19, 2016 11:45 am

Who: Joebrady88 and I
Time: 3pm-11pm
Bait: fresh lug and live crab
Tide: 10pm
Results: Around 15 codling, 5 or so schoolie bass, 1 flounder, a lot of pin whiting and 2 rockling.

Just a quick report

Was relatively mild until winds changed and came from north, was fairly bitter during late hours.

Was non stop fishing for the 7 hours with over 30 fish between us.

The spot was screaming fish, so much so that bass were chasing whiting up onto the beach where we were throwing them back in!

One or two half decent sized codling, but mostly small.

All fish went back alive, we did notice that the cod weren't the strongest going back, they don't seem as hardy as other fish and some didn't make it.

Great time was had.

Great session there with a nice selection of species, I wonder were the bass chasing the whiting a bit bigger than schoolies? Yeah, those small codling are delicate enough though a bit tougher than whiting, they seem to sometimes die of shock!

You're probably 100% right. We did have some chunky bites but no hook-ups other than the small fish. Was weird seeing fish throwing themselves on the beach though.
