SHORE MACKEREL REPORTS 2016

Caught today at Currabinny - to say I was surprised is putting it mildly.
Caught on mackerel strip on a size 4 hook

:oops: I was out kayaking yesterday morning fishing the fall. The better half was with me and said she noticed flickers of silver underneath us, so i dropped a line ASAP and was immediately into the macks! in all got about a dozen, a cod and a pollock both around 3lb. would post pics but on the way back to shore i got hit by a wave on the side got flipped over by a wave n lost most of the fish, the bait n most of my rigs

I caught one Mackerel on Sunday April 3, fishing from the shore in Bantry Bay. The fish took a small pirk and was hooked within 30' of the shore. The fish was caught close to the bottom as I was after Pollock.

They were catching mackerel in keem bay on the shore back in January!

a few macks caught in cobh to day

Was out in Rosbeg, Killary and then over to Little Killary for a hour or two running up to high tide yesterday evening. Not a sign of any mackerel being caught. All we got were a few pollack in L Killary... There were plenty of people fishing in Rosbeg. Nobody had any.....

Fished Mayo coast this weekend from a kayak , mackerel very patchy and all caught about a mile from the shore...

Got 5 off the rocks opposite Roches point last night.

There were about 6 in Poolbeg last night between about 6 blokes .Man are they slow this year .

Seem to remember it was early August last year before they were about with any regularity
