jimcars
I fished in close due to a rising tide hw was at 430.after that I cast a little bit further each cast following the tide out. I used blackraps /squid/mackerel till about 430.then I went on small sand eels/macs/squid.it didn't seem to matter what bait you used once the pouting turned up.i found that if you increased the size of the hookbait ie half a blackrap plus a decent strip of mackerel clipped down on a 2/0 kamasan and belted out would get you big rockling and whiting.hope that helps.

you can fish the south side of the pier the wexford side even though there are no fishing signs on it.i spoke to the harbour master he said he didn't mind as long as people clean up after them.dont know how long its going to last though with the new apartments going up there at the moment.i think if we keep it clean and keep our heads down all will be ok.its a grand spot to fish in winter when its quiet.brings me back to being a kid fishing off it having done so for the last 45 yrs.some great catches and great craic over the years it was a magic place for good coalies in the 80s. I also had great plaice fishing from the diving board and the steps as well.pity I didn't have a decent camera then. we just fished for dinner more or less no specimen hunting then.and now its come the full circle only specy fishing left really.hounds/ray/tope etc.

Tnks Greg, appreciate the time to reply. Must give it a look some day. My bro in law still goes on about the Plaice he used to catch from Bray when he was 20 or so, about 25 years ago.

If the Irish Angling community bothered to clean up after themselves we wouldn't be banned from anywhere. I remember going down the new pier in Greystones about two weeks after it opened to find all manner of rubbish left strewn about the place. Have a look at the rocks at Black Head in August for the same. Beer cans, old bait, line and my personal favorite...from Sorrento point...the fish and chip bag with a dump in it. I and many more of you clean up, not only after ourselves but others as well. We get what we deserve.

Rant over.
