Tide:full around 2230

Weather: Strong S-SW winds but this beach is well sheltered

Bait:Frozen sandeel, Mackerel and mini squid which were all past the sell by date and refrozen for emergencies like last night.

Rigs:2 and 3 hook clip down

Results: lots of small whiting between 6 and 10 inches though the bigger were few and far between, no other species


Report: This beach has plenty of clear sand out past the rocky outcrops but is fairly shallow overall. I tried in close near the rocks hoping for an early bass and lost a couple of rigs for my trouble i will be back later in the year as it has to have some potential.

Hi Pat, Clogga is in south Wicklow isn't it, :?: how far about would you say it is from Greystones? I plan to fish some new marks this year and may give this a bash, probably in the late spring/summer.
That wasn't a bad session, at least you managed something, well done.
Would you say distance is an important factor here?

Col, Clogga is just beyond Arklow so id reckon its about 40 minutes drive from Greystones. Its quite a shallow sandy beach but theres access to deep water at either end of the bay if your willing to walk for 20 minutes. Ive had decent Dab and flounder from this beach, loads of dogs and some quality Smoothies. Have never really tried in close near the rocks for bass but i hear there are a few to be had. HTH

Hi guy's, my parents have a mobile home just above the beach...never really had anything special from there in the last ten years......the best catch was a 5lb bass about five years ago....very shallow water with a very high sandbank about 150 yds out...the very far left of the beach near the roadstone quarry is great for flats,but has a very hungry lookin seal hangin around most days.

Its just past Arklow and only thirty mins from Greystones, I can get home to Naas in just over an hour at night. I was getting fish at all ranges. There are usually some dogs and small smoothies later in the year. I have not seen the beach in daylight so not sure what it is really like. Seanibo seems to have the lowdown so take good advice when given. If you have the time it is worth going a little further down the coast. I do most of my fishing after work so am a little limited.

Tried here again yesterday (sat). Was fishing with mackeral from 4pm till about 7pm....calm water and high tide...nice few catches....2 flats and 5 whiting all average size

planning a trip with club to Courtown in March st patricks weekend, does anyone know if the smoothies will be about and how far would that be from clogga
any info would be much appreciated especially about courtown

Clogga is about ten minute drive from courttown....i live in Gorey 5 min from there also....so ask away

Hi Gavin Wondering what tactics to use, best baits and what the main target species will be around that time of year, we are doing the competition on the sat then we are having are club master angler 5th leg on the sunday on one of the beaches in the area, jimmy the bus doyle is meeting us and you and some of your friends are welcome to join in we normally have a heavy fish pool and should be a good bit of crack with the twenty or so carrick rockers s.a.c.
We are staying beside sean oakes at kilmuckridge for the weekend

Hello there Stuart. March is too early for a realistic chance at the smoothies im afraid. June/July seems to be the best time i find. Dabs and dogs would probably be the main quarry a this time of year. If the weathers settled and warm for a while before you fish though there might be the chance of an early ray at evening time around mauricecastle.
