Quick report as im in work and up to my nuts in it. Fished Kerry last Thur for Bass and Fri, Sat and Sun morn for trout. Plan was to target pollock but marks were blown out of it. Thur night up til 12 we fished a mark that has let us down once in 20 years. Bass were there as we expected but my mate Stephen got all four. I didnt get a single tap. On inspection of our what looked like identical traces, he had 2 luminous beads. Could that really have made the difference..? He landed 4 and lost 2 on the way in and I barely had a tap. Casting same distance into same area. It was a very dark night with almost new moon. I would have never thought these beads will be the difference, still not sure. Might have been one of those nights.
Anyway, very hard to walk away at 12pm when the tide had 3 hours to go and it was really warming up.
Rest of the weekend was on the trout and we had some good sport. I had several trout and Steve not a tap. I would have swapped my trout for bass any day but always my preference to take a fish on a lure over bait. Lost a very good trout at the mouth of the estuary fishing into a lovely surf. Classic trout fight. Savage take and felt a good 3 pound or more.
Always a pleasure to fish Brandon in Kerry, stunning place, the locals are friends at this stage. Weather was cold and the strong Westerly winds ruined our pollock marks but that's how it goes.
Really curious on anyone's take about the luminous beads..? Surely scent alone would be enough to take some fish.
