People: Me and the LSSAC faithful, 7 rods in all.
Duration: 10:00 - 16:30
Tide: Over low and up
Weather: Windy in the morning, fell away gradually. Good Surf running.
Bait: Lug and squid worked best, but all other major food groups represented.
Rigs: 2 and 3 hook flappers. Some excellent bling on display.
Results: 7 counters, all flounder.
Report: Fishing started off well in difficult conditions thanks to a savage crosswind and masses of weed. 200g gripleads were the order of the day. Conditions improved as the day wore on, except for the west end where the weed ended up and forced a few anglers to relocate from what were originally the only productive pegs. Early on a few good flounder fell to worm and squid promising a good day's fishing. However, after low tide bites fell off for a few hours, with only a couple of flounder landed over the counting size in the afternoon. Later catches of flounder and turbot were all undersize, with no other species showing. Displaying consistent form, I blanked again. No surprises there for regular readers.
A few of the lads decamped after the match to try and scope out a few other marks for the next meet in two weeks time which will be the last of the season, so venue to be announced - watch the forums and local press as usual.
Top honours go to Gordon with 2 Flounder for 68cm, followed by Derek with 2 flounder for 59, Barry with 2 flounder for 45cm and LSD with 1 flounder for 28cm.
Apart from blanking (yes, I'm used to it ), of particular annoyance were fragments of mono gill nets coming in every other cast.
