North Dublin, 15/5/15.

Sun May 17, 2015 5:04 pm

Time: 20.30-12.30
Tide: HW at 22.39
Bait: Crab and rag
Rigs: Pulleys and pennell pulleys.
Wind/weather: Stiff westerly/south westerly, dry.
People: Jack01986, Jack R and myself.

Managed to free up a few hours for a shot at the hounds on the bigger tides this weekend. Met up with the two Jacks at the agreed time and got set-up by 20.30. Jack01986 brought a few pizzas with him so if nothing else we'd be well fed 8)
We were getting small bites resulting in stripped hooks from the start. Eventually Jack R managed to impale one of the bait robbers on a 3/0- a pin whiting. Thankfully as darkness fell a few more positive bites started showing but still no fish. The baits were coming back more flattened and chewed than earlier and we wondered was it the doggies doing their thing. I did manage to hook into what I think was a small hound eventually but it came off after about 5 seconds-still it provided a bit of encouragement to keep going. Bites kept coming but still no fish landed despite holding the rods. The two lads had to head on about midnight but as there were only a few crab left at this stage I decided to stay on. Finally a crab/rag cocktail resulted in a pup after the slightest movement on the rod tip, no monster but glad to open the smoothy account for the year.

fair play on the stubborness - it paid off
