Report: I finally received my Vercelli rod during the week, was gunning to give it a whirl. Awake at 3:00, couldn't lull myself back to sleep. Gear already packed the previous night, ready to roll. Coffee guzzled, I set off with the soft soothing sounds of Megadeth. Arrived, got going relatively quick. I was warm for the most part, but my hands are generally like those of a corpse. The missus has kindly bought me a Coleman lantern, so that problem should be solved?
I fished with one rod to begin with, until there was sufficient light to set up the other, just in case I accidentally damaged it in some way. Reckon I hit in to that bar of silver on the 4-5 ping, guesstimation - pound and a half. I tried to get a snap, but my hands were about to fall off, my concern was to get the fish back on his way.
After that it was small fry, but at a steady pace, fishing totally dropped around 9:00. Gave it another hour and bailed, only then did the sun make an appearance. I'm going to try and get out on more night sessions, having been told it fishes better.
