Report:Arrived in a gale and left in a gale. Intended to fish five or six sessions in the week but the wind was relentless.
First evening fished high tide which was about 5pm.Arrived to find my preferred spot which was a bit sheltered occupied by 3 guys so went to other side of strand but the cross wind was really bad so packed up after one cast which resulted in a small flounder who's bite hadn't registered at all.
Returned next evening, quiet start then had a couple of small coal fish which were shredding the hook every cast. Went quiet again but had a strong bite which yielded a nice Bass of about 4.5lb. Cast again and had the rod almost pulled out of my hand within 30 seconds or so but must have knocked the drag when unhooking the previous fish and didn't set the hook properly and that was that. Probably another Bass but who knows. Fished for another hour but no joy.
The weather and the porter wrecked the weekend but things didn't improve on the Monday. Gales and rain set in, fished another mark on the next two nights but the heart wasn't in it. Two soakings, frozen fingers and bouncing rods in the wind was enough. That's fishing !!!
Back for a couple of weeks in March and hope things will have settled down a bit

its the luck of us fishermen, we are always at the mercy of the weather when a trip is planned in advance, you just hope for the best, fair play for perserving and landing fish all the same.

Fair play to you for persevering, you did well to land a Bass in that weather.
