Report:
Arrived down to kerry on Saturday and dug some lugworm, i spent quality time with the moth on sunday and what a beautiful day it was too with blue skies, not a puff of wind to be had or a drop of rain, which is a very rare for that neck of the woods, i waited eagarly to fish on Monday.
I was not too hopefull of a decent surf as sunday had been glorious, however i was quiet suprised to find the surf was very nice with tables of water rolling in.
After walking to my chosen spot on the beach i set up two rods one with the flapper and the other with the pennel rig, i cast both out and waited patiently for a nibble or two, alas i had no bite until 15:00hrs when i had a knock on the pennel rig rod, started to reel in and happy days landed my biggest bass to date, which was 57cm's in length and just over 4lb in weight.
Then at 15:30hrs i had that distinctive flattie rat tat tat of bites on the two hook flapper rod and reeled in the flounder, which was 36cm's in length, again the biggest i have caught, i had only two bites during the day and landed the two fish as a result, the weather while it was fairly windy was bearable and it was fairly mild, so off i went a happy camper.
I fished the same beach the following day, a different beach the day after with no bites or fish to be had on either day, the wind was always south to southwesterly westerly however it was getting progressively stronger per day and made the fishing not soo pleasant.
I was pleasantly surprised to catch a bass this size on that beach as i had previously only caugh fish to 2lb in weight at most and have been fishing fairly regularily in this area for five years or more, goes to show one never knows what is in store on a fishing session and already looking forward to my next kerry foray.
