I had been reliably informed by corbyeire on here to stay away from the south wexford beaches on saturday as the strong southerly winds woiuld be blowing weed onto them, off course curiosity got the better of me and i arrived down to kilmore quay on saturday morning last, I attempted to fish bannow starnd, had alook at ballyhealy which was too windy for my liking, i tried another beach i think it was called st margaretes with a small pier to the right as you look out to sea, had no success as the weed was making fishing impossible. So i headed to the nearest easterly beach which was rosslare strand, had never fished here before, big long beach this, the sea was relatively calm, little or no surf but there was no weed which was helpfull.
Anyways i set up, cast out both rods and after the second re-baiting and re-casting my pennel rod gave that familiar knock knock and i reelled in mr bass.
A couple and their two boys walking along the beach came over to look and the man said he fished a few competitions on the beach but ususally only catch flatties anyways i took a few pics and sent the little fella back to his mates.
I was talking to an elderly gent who regularily walks this beach, who used to beach fish also and he said i was the second fisherman he had seen fishing the beach in 18 months which shows how poor it must be, he did inform me of two other locations nearby which would be a better option, you could talk to a starnger for ages especially when both have a common interest, anyways after no more bites and with the local knowledge stored for a future date i packed up and went home for myself a little later.
