Results: I've had a very poor year on the fishing front, been on the lures since April and have had plenty of blanks, been out twice a week, tried all my favourite marks, some new marks and it took me until June to get into the fish. Pollock mainly, decent enough from the shore around Dublin, biggest was 5lb, it's been more miss than hit though.
Anyway, yesterday evening I went to a Mark, looked promising but have seen it like this before and produced nothing. First cast I was into a pollock of about a pound on a kilty, happy days!, then for the next 4 hours I didn't get a tap!.I threw all my best lures, but no joy. Here we go again I thought!, not even a Mack for the dinner, so i was walking back and I thought I'd give a spot a try that has been good before. So I threw out a green kilty, first cast and bang!!, fish on, not a Mack but bass, slot of head shakes and a bit of a run and it was gone!!, gutted !. Now my confidence was back, so I put on a fiish crazy sandeel and continued, 10 minutes later got hit again!!, fish on and it was a runner, stripping line and reel making a beautiful sound that I have missed so much

. What a scrap, I was praying I could see it incase it threw the hook, took me about 10 minutes to get a look at it in the surf, at this stage it was dark, but it just kept running. I had no wading gear on either so I couldn't get in the water which was difficult!!, but managed to land my first Bass of the year, a a PB for me, beating my previous PB of 10lb, this one was just under 12lb!!, happy days. I was trying to take a photo on my phone but was too dark and was too buzzed up to be messing about. I revived her in the water for a while, she gave a kick and was gone back out to sea

. Great to see fish like that around after such a poor fishing season.
