People:me

Duration:3 hours

Tide:incoming full at 5

Weather: sunny, southwesterly wind

Bait: hardback crab

Rigs:float and bullet

Results: blank somehow

Report: haven't got out in ages was really looking forward to landing a few wrasse, loaded up with hardbacks 2euro coin size from the local beach yesterday, spent the 3 hours up to full tide feeding the local wrasse.
Had at least 8 fish hooked and not 1 landed!! The longest was on for maybe 30 seconds.
They were smashing the crab nearly every cast but I just couldn't manage a decent hook up, I've used the same setup in the past but always more hits than misses, still great sport though just a pity none landed for the camera.

Has anyone got any tips to improve the hook up rate?
I use size 1/0 hooks remove the second last leg and turn the hook through the thorax of the crab

try getting a few shrimp and boil them until they go orange, they always work for me and have a great hook up rate with them,i would say a 1/0 is about right..
