Well went down to tralee again, this time took women and kids so not as much fishing done, managed 2 boat trips, couple hours on beaches and 1 spinning trip.
Arrived at our accomodation around 10pm on the Sunday, got kids to bed unpacked then down to a local beach for the high tide, not much surf around and only managed 4 flounder to around 32cm. So packed up at 2am and pack for a beer and bed. The next day we called round to see a guide friend of ours to see how the fishing had been and to pick his brains on a low water mark for that early evening. He put us onto a we channel mark for low tide but did warn us the crabs have baits gone in 5/10 mins. So we dug around 100 lug and headed round to mark. Fished it for around 2 hours, had 6 mid sized flounder and I had 1 good hit but it slipped the hook so no joy.
Next day was dingle with the family and the aquarium.
On the Wednesday we had a boat trip planned for tope, the signs weren't great the Mackeral weren't playing ball, for 2 hours drifting in the known marks we had 3 horse Mackeral. No worry the skipper had frozen Mack. So off we went to the first mark, no joy so went round a lot further to deeper water, here the dogfish were about in big numbers but managed 4 bull Huss the biggest around 10lb and had 1 tope run but no hook up.
No more fishing planned the rest of the week so went to beach and circus the next day, got a phone call from the skipper that night to say he was out again, managed a load of Mack had 1 tope on boat and 3 lost so he offered to take us again on Friday. We had borrowed the boat rods from our guide friend so we called to see him again on the way home and he said he would take us lure fishing early in the morning to his favourite mark before we went on boat.
So next morning up and away for 8am. After a 40 min hike across fields and rocks we got to the mark , stunning was the only way to describe it, we could se mullet everywhere and while we were looking a large painted ray glided by, later a large sting ray glided by. we spun for around two hours with not a touch the bass weren't playing ball, so maybe next time but we enjoyed it anyway as it was such a great location with fish moving everywhere.
So off to the boat, but a thick fog had come down so it changed the plans for the day, we went to a mark in the bay for Ray, we had around 8 undulant up to 8lb, a stingray to 15lb and a tope up the side of the boat, unfortunately it tangled in another line and throw the hook while we were untangling, it was only a pup around 10/15lb. Oh and a couple tub gurnard.
Great day was had.
That was it for the fishing couple family days out then home. This will not be our last time down absolutely love the area and the people are amazing. If anyone is heading that way let us know and we can set you up with the guide or the boat guy. Both well priced and experts in the area.
