Weather: Warm , dry , clear sky.

Rigs: Pulley rig, 1 up 1 down flapper, 4 hook paternoster.
Results: 5 Bull-Huss, 8 LSD, 1 pin whiting
Report: After having some success, down East last time out(dogfish and a strap conger), we decided to go West Cork this time and fish by darkness as opposed to the rising tide.
We stopped on the way to chance our arm for a few fresh mackerel, it was not to be we managed 1 pin Whiting on a dirty dick lure the same size as it.
We packed up and arrived at the beach just as the tide was turning, we fished for the first hour without a tap on the rod, our baits being stripped by the crabs, as soon as dusk came so too did the fish, we had a couple of Dogfish on mackerel and squid, but things really got going when we started to fish squid and Razor cocktails, this resulted in some fierce bites, but no takes at first, we had another couple of doggies(biggest a little over 2lb in weight) before I lost a very big fish about 20 foot out, at first I thought it was a bass but I soon discovered the bites were Bull-Huss holding the baits in there mouths and spitting them out at the last second, we had 5 Bull-Huss in the next hour biggest 8lb 4oz.
Overall it was a very enjoyable night, I beat my PB for Bull Huss twice in the one night and we both added another species to the list for 2014, the advice we got from a friend of ours Ian was spot on, he told us use razor and squid as bait and be prepared to watch the bait being spat out as you go to land it
