caught this beauty on Wicklow pier. not going to bother with what else as both ger and me were miny fishing and im sure you wont be bothered with the usual tales of all the different fish and sizes its called a top knot or rock sole and its a first for me

I always wondered does that estuary there produce any bass? I fished those piers for years as a kid and caught lots but never a bass. I know it's a shallow river but usually any sort of fresh water trickle attracts them. Ever encounter or hear of them around the pies etc?

ah thanks everybody. have got bass off the pier but only when the mackerel are in. they hunt the fry with them. and thanks eyes for the enlargement it was about 25 cms in length

A big congrats fishface, that's two 'hens teeth fish' caught from Wicklow pier in as many days. Rob had a smelt the other day.

Well done. Are they a common species?. I've never seen or heard of them been that often.
