Results: Bass, Doggies, Tope
Report: Hit Wicklow mark last night. First cast, decent size doggie on rag. Things quietened down for a bit, the wind changed to strong onshore with driving rain. Heard a shout from mate further down, he'd landed small bass. I was delighted for him he's only starting off and always gettin stick from the lads.

I had planned on sending out a mack' in the hope of a tope, but we had none) , so when Richie landed his first Bass to great appaulse ( which he returned alive btw.. very sporting I thought ) I stuck on a single pulley with size 3 hook ( I had been fishing with 12lb mainline and 2 hook flapper which had produced a Doggie earlier). I sent her out with a sandeel, hoping I could grab a passing silver'..... Then Bang!.. lol rod nearly lifted out of the rest, I caught hold just before it hit the sand, and my first unexpected to say the least, TOPE was on ! I reckon I hit it lucky that fish charged beach direction in good swell, otherwise she'd have snapped me off in no time. Only had to keep her tight along surfline for about 5 mins, then managed to get her beached as big wave broke onshore. Was beside meself lol ! Chuffed! Delighted for Richies first Bass, but still grinin today for my Wicklow Surprise

Sorry bout pic quality... but hey.... First beach Tope for me ha ha.
