People: Me, Willie & Jim
Duration: 7 hours
Tide: rising
Weather: Good
Bait: Lugs and razor
Rigs: 2 hook
Results: With just 2 days to the close of the bass fishing we had to try to get a fish before the DT’s set in.
Headed to one of my favouvite beaches around 11.00 in the morning to fish the bottom of the tide. Rarely if ever have we blanked at this location. Most of the sand was washed away due to the winter storms exposing a huge amount of rocks exposed along the waters edge.
After over 2 hours not a bite between the 3 of us and so it was off for a quick lunch before hitting another beach.
On arrival another angler was just landing a nice bass.
First in was Willie with a nice 5lb bass. Once this fish was landed we could all go home smiling.

Soon afterwards Jim got stuck in weeds. He got talking to us and left the rod. When he went back and dragged his gear free there was a 3.5lb bass attached to the top hook in a near death state.
Two minutes later my rod was dragged out of the stand and a huge fish started to head out to sea, I turned it and the battle was on….for a few seconds before it made his escape.
This was followed a few minutes later by another good bite. When I picked up the rod a large fish jumped clean out of the water several times. At the back of my mind I had a large seatrout on his way in. After a good struggle another 5lb bass was landed.
2 more bites were missed and it was time for dinner.
